Family Camp Date Set!
Mark your calendars! Family Camp will take place on Labor Day weekend this year (Aug. 31st-Sept 3rd.) We were able to get into Schafer State Park again that weekend. There will be a sign up sheet coming when the date gets a little closer. See Kristi Terrell with questions.

Looking for New or Gently Used Toys
The Nursery Department is looking for new or gently used toy donations. If you have a toy or toys that you would like to donate to the church, please drop them off in the infant room. Thank you!

Baby/Child Dedication
We have rescheduled the baby dedication for Sunday, Feb. 12th. If you would like to have your baby or child dedicated, please contact the church office at 360-825-1694.

Meal Coordinator Needed
We are looking for a volunteer willing to head up the meal coordination ministry for the church. The meal coordinator organizes a list of people within the church who are willing to provide meals to church family members in need. When a situation arises, the coordinator works with the family to assess their needs and then calls volunteers to coordinate and meet those needs. If this is an area where you feel God calling you to serve, please call Kristi in the church office: 360-825-1694.

Greek Quick Reference Guide
Mike Meyers gave us a great tip on a website for a Greek Quick Reference Guide with lots of helpful and useful information that you can access. You can find it by clicking here. Thank you Mike!

Rachel’s Challenge Slips available in the Narthex!
We would like to make a “Chain of Kindness” and participate in the community-wide mission to make a paper chain consisting of deliberate acts of kindness and compassion that will stretch over 2 miles! Our goal for Hillside is to have 10 yards (144 links) or more by March 2nd. If you witness a deliberate act of kindness, fill out one of the slips and drop it in the shoebox in the Narthex!

“TrueU”-Does God Exist?-Here at Hillside!
Join Pastor Dan in the fellowship hall at 9:30 AM for another exciting, in-depth Sunday School DVD series that will ask the questions from a scientific perspective, Does God exist?

The Truth Project!
Ron & Trish Gallagher are conducting a small group study of The Truth Project. The group will be meeting every other Wednesday at 7 PM and all are welcome to join them! Please call Ron & Trish if you plan to attend and to get directions to their home.

Shoe Box Ministry Update
Each month we will feature a need for Shoebox collection in preparation for Operation Christmas Child 2012. This month we are collecting: NEW Toys...dolls, stuffed animals, flashlights solar or with batteries, small picture books, balls (if deflated, with a hand pump). We will also be continually collecting plastic shoebox-size containers (6 quart). You may purchase these at most retail stores, the dollar store or in packs of 12 at spacesavers.com (1-800-880-6264). Please leave all donations in the designated box in the Narthex. Thank you!

Hillside Food Bank Project!
When: 1st Sunday of each month
Where: Hillside Community Church– look for the designated place for your items.

February Needs:
This month the food bank would like us to collect canned vegetables. Please pray and ask God how He would have you give. The quantity is not the focus, but to respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  If you would like to help with this ministry, please see Harry & Susan Steinbach.

Campbell's Soup Labels & Box Tops-
For over 20 years we have been sending labels and box tops to a Christian ministry called, “The South West Indian School" in Peoria, AZ. If you would like to participate, cut off the bar code and the little Campbell’s soup kid next to it and save your box tops off specially marked, “Box Tops for Education” products and turn them into the church office. See Maxine Glaze with questions.

Pop Can Recycling Project- Another ongoing project is saving pop cans. Money collected from the recycled cans goes to support our own Carol Magnusson with Wycliffe Bible Translators. There is a wooden box in the back of the parking lot next to the tool shed for depositing them. See Joyce Magnusson with questions.

Decorating committee Help Wanted
We are looking for volunteers and coordinators to be on the church decorating committee. If you enjoy decorating and feel led to be on the committee or take leadership of the committee, please contact Kristi in the office 360-825-1694

Volunteers Needed!
Do you enjoy planning parties, or organizing fun social events? Or maybe you enjoy helping with or facilitating weddings? Or do you have a heart that longs to minister to those suffering in a time of loss? We are looking for someone to take leadership as a church life coordinator, as well as someone to be a wedding facilitator & a funeral facilitator. If you feel God is calling you to serve in one of these ministry opportunities, or you have questions about these ministries, please contact Tom Johnson

Housing Ministry:
Do you have a spare room or mother-n-law apartment that you would be willing to rent out on a short term basis? From time to time a temporary housing need arises. If you would be willing to help on a short term basis, please contact the office to have your name placed on a contact list. Contact Kristi Terrell with questions!

eScrip Update!
eScrip is a program sponsored by Safeway where up to 4% of your purchases could be designated & donated to Hillside Community and as much as 10% of your purchases during the back-2-school promotion that takes place in September.

Hillside began participating in the eScrip program about 4 1/2 years ago. In that time we've earned nearly $5,700.00! We were able to use those funds to purchase a new projection system and are currently saving towards a new broadcast lens to use with it.

Right now we have 57 families signed up to support us through the eScrip program. Thank you to everyone who is participating! If you haven't yet signed up for eScrip, there are sign up sheets in the Narthex, and all you need is a Safeway Club Card! Feel free to take one of the sign up sheets and sign up your friends & family too! Contact Kristi Terrell with questions 825-1694

eScrip Recycling
We can also earn additional funds by recycling printer toner, ink cartridges and cell phones. Check the list of valid donations (only certain ones are recyclable) located in the Narthex. If yours is on the list, then all you have to do is drop your cell phones or empty ink or toner cartridges in the box in the Narthex.

Do you enjoy taking pictures?
Would you like to share your creativity? We are looking for digital pictures to use for our Power point slides, on our website, & in our church ad., etc. If you have pictures to share, or would like to take some pictures to share, please contact Kristi in the office 825-1694

Would you like to be an under-shepherd?

What does an under shepherd do?

An under-shepherd makes a conscious effort to be aware of several friends and to follow up with them.

If there were needs, the under-shepherd would let an elder know of the need and be the contact person for the elder.

Under-shepherds are also the conduits for communicating with the body. For example if the elders need to survey the body, that would be handles through the shepherding lines.

I Peter 5:2-4 "Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory."

Would you like to be a part of our shepherding ministry?

Is God calling you to serve?

Are there areas of ministry within the church that you feel God is leading you to take part in? Do you want to be involved somehow, but don’t know where?

Right now, there is a display in the Narthex that highlights many different ministry area’s within the church (if we have missed an area, let us know!). There are a variety of opportunities that could appeal to every interest and talent. Please spend some time in prayer and ask God if and where He is directing you to serve, or to start a whole new ministry!
